The point that the book is trying to make by not giving them names is to suppress the freedom of women, and when in the scenes of the movie the names are reveled this displays hope in themselves and who they really are. So the giving of names in the movie defies the point that the book is trying to make. Lastly the scenes that contain diversity among the book and the movie is the one in which Offred is forced to have sex with the commander for the first time. She is forced because that is her duty as a Handmaid; but the commanders as we all know has a wife, which has to be present during the sex scene, and furthermore grabbing Offred? s hands. This chapter in the book is presented in a calm way, Offred never moans and after the commander is done she stands up, goes to her room quietly and puts some butter in her skin to make it softer. On the other hand in the movie Offred moaned and lamented during the entire ritual and when the ritual was done she went off crazy, threw a milk glass to a wall and went desperate and cried. I believe that the point that the book wants to portray by not having her whine is that they want to illustrate Offred as a mature woman that is starting to accept the Gilead, maybe not accept but just tolerant to the rules. However what the movie tries to convey, that is the complete opposite form the book, are really strong emotions, by the moaning we feel her, it feels much more realistic and her reaction to it provokes a much stronger shock to the audience. While in the book they want to show a lost and defeated by the rules woman in the movie they want to display a desperate woman that just lost her freedom and dignity. The movie and book of The Handmaid? s Tale contain diverse scenes that expose poles apart of meanings. As mentioned before the book has more ambiguity and shows Offred as a woman who gave up fighting while on the other hand in the movie some individualism is shown, the naive innocence of Offred is taken away and she is a strong fighter. The scenes alter significantly the meaning of both the movie and play, but regardless to that they are both excellent masterpieces. The way the movie was altered was perfect for a movie, because it wants to entertain and I believe that the reason they gave names to some characters was to avoid confusing the audience. And the point of the ambiguity of the book was to create an atmosphere of fear and mystery, which Margaret successfully created. For Americans the west is the old world, the world that many of our ancestors came from to form this country where we could be free or freer then being ruled by a King, but yet Americans were not as free as what they originally believed they would be, in this they had to band together to remove the invaders from the west. But, long before we could even imagine time both England and Vietnam had to learn to fight to protect themselves from China that repeatedly kept trying to dominate Vietnam and the expanding Roman Empire that was taking control of the European lands that spread to the British Iles where the Romans would be met with such strong forces that they would have to retreat and regroup before they could attempt to conquer the Iles. This, however, is not about the military conquest of the Chinese or the Roman Empire, but rather the strong women warriors that both armies came up against as they invaded. What makes a woman a warrior queen? Is it her stamina? Is it her ability to fight in a battle? Is it her ability to lead troops into battle and rally them to fight to oust the invaders? For Trung Trac and her sister Trung Nhi, it is all of these things. It is these things that helped these women fight off the invaders from their lands. For both the Trung sisiters it was the 1000 year Chinese control over Vietnam for some others such as Boudicca it was the threat of the Roman Empire to take over her lands. All these women share many things in common all three had to watch as their families where killed by the invaders and either they were raped or their family members where. This is how we find both Trung Trac and Trung Nhi. To understand these women is to first understand the history of Vietnam.During the first century of history of Vietnam there lived two daughters of a powerful lord their names, Trung Trac and Trung Nhi. These daughters as they grew up had to witness the atrocities committed to the Vietnamese people by the ruling Chinese having grown up witnessing such crimes committed against their people would be what helped them to lead a revolt against the ruling Chinese. Since the Trung sisters couldn't stand such cruel treatment to their own people, with the support of tribal lords, they gathered an army of 80,000 people, thirty-six being women, including their mother. By the year 40 A.D., the Trung sisters, along with their army, had liberated sixty-five fortresses and finally drove the Chinese out of Vietnam. The people of Vietnam rejoiced over this tremendous victory and proclaimed Trung Trac to be their ruler. They renamed her "Trung Vuong" or "She-king Trung." Trung Trac established her new court in Me-linh, an ancient political center, in the present day province of Vinh Phu, in the Hong River plain. As the new queen of Vietnam, she cleared out the much-hated tribute taxes imposed by the Chinese officials and tried to restore a simpler form of government that was more in line with traditional Vietnamese values. But these joyful times weren't going to last, in the year 42 A.D., the Chinese were sent to recapture Vietnam under General Ma-Vien. For the next year, the Trung sisters engaged in constant battles. The queen and all her people fought hard to resist the invaders, but the troops were defeated miserably in 43 A.D. Rather than accept the utter defeat and be captured, the Trung sisters chose the traditional Vietnamese way of maintaining honor. They committed suicide by jumping into the Hat-Giang River on the 60th day of the second lunar eclipse. The courage and bravery of these two women have been remembered and admired over the centuries. Simply put, some macroinvertebrates are highly sensitive to pollution, while others tolerate it. Certain types of macroinvertebrates found thriving in a body of water can tell you if that water is clean or polluted. Highly Sensitive to Pollution When found in high numbers, macroinvertebrates like adult riffle beetles and gilled snails can serve as bioindicators of good water quality. These creatures are usually highly sensitive to pollution. These organisms tend to require highly dissolved oxygen levels. I will have to say that the play was very interesting yet hard to watch. My first impression was that the stage was slanted. I’m still not sure why the stage was slanted and would love to ask the director of why it was slanted. Secondly, the actors were very hard to hear due to their soft speaking.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  From the play I received two major underlying messages. First was from Mama’s plant. This plant symbolized all that the Younger family was; a half alive plant that is growing in all direction waiting for the spring to bloom. This is the perfect description of the Younger’s. The family is struggling with what to do with the insurance check and finally realize that by equality they will bloom into what they truly desire.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Secondly I saw that the Younger’s are a family of routine. It seems that each member is caught in their own struggle and can’t break the cycle they are caught in. The blue at the beginning sets the â€Å"blue† mood that wonders over most of the family. His clothes went along with his ambitions of wealth and high rank. Mama’s clothes were always simply and barley of higher quality than rags. For more than twenty years, I have worked as a dental surgeon in the Armed Forces of Pakistan.   I have spent a great part of my professional life as a dental practitioner in some of the most challenging circumstances while working with extremely basic facilities at a community level.   I have also served a diversified group of people regardless of their socio-economic status.   Since HIV and hepatitis are highly communicable diseases that can be acquired through dental treatment and related procedures, I have created public awareness about its prevention through information dissemination by means of conducting lectures, video films and posters. I have also provided information about the dental health status of the population and the inequities in health program.   In addition, I have shared my knowledge about the determinants of health and illness, strategies for health promotion, injury prevention, health protection and the factors that influence the delivery and use of health services.   I was also tasked to carry out a regular annual oral dental inspection at various community levels.   I assessed all the information that was gathered and prepared budgets, reports and recommendations for policy and program development.   These efforts led to the development of a school dental program in Pakistan. I completed my dental studies in the prestigious, de’Montmorency College of Dentistry in Pakistan.   This is a high profiled and oldest dental college in my country.   My interest in the field of public health stems from the dental services that I have done for over two decades while serving the Armed Forces of Pakistan.   This job allowed me to focus on the treatment of dental ailments as well as on the prevention of dental diseases, related infectious and communicable diseases such as hepatitis and HIV. The growing demand of my family did not enable me to perform tours of duty out side of my home city, Karachi.   Hence, I decided to take an early retirement from the Armed Forces of Pakistan.   Then, I worked in various medical centers and provided dental services to the Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation (P.T.C.L.) employees and their dependents.     P.T.C.L. at that time was a state run Telecommunication company employing over 60,000 employees.   Recently I also did volunteer work as a trainor for the Kitchner  and Waterloo Sexual Assault Support Center. Pursuing a Masters degree in Public Health is in line with my long term career goal of  moving towards a managerial and  strategic role in health care provision.   I believe  that with the knowledge and exposure that I will learn in the University of Waterloo will enhance my skills as a dental surgeon and will provide me with a better grasp on the issues related to public health and disease prevention for a larger population. Now that I have migrated in Canada, I would like to be an effective public health professional and achieve the health goals set forth by the Canadian health services.   I also intend to conduct a study that will lead to the improvement of health and development of the population-based prevention programs.
